For the past 40 years, I have had the privilege of living in and preaching about the richness of the Deeper Spiritual Life found through faith in Jesus Christ. That journey has taken my wife and I to missions in southeast Alaska, ministry on the Kenai Peninsula, to an Apache reservation in New Mexico, and to pastoring churches in eastern Idaho and east county San Diego.
Today, we continue this same impassioned ministry to share the richness and power of true spiritual life as I pastor a small church in the Rocky Mountains of central Idaho. The evidence of the Spirits' work during those many years of ministry has been the numerous salvations, healings, miracles, visitation of angels, binding of demons, and daily fellowship with the Holy Spirit that life devoted to Jesus Christ has produced. It is to that same powerful reality of Spiritual Life that the message of this site is dedicated.
Understanding Revelation according to Biblical Precedent
God’s desire is that we would understand the mysteries of His Word. Jesus said “to you has been given the knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom”. In this book of Revelation, John is told “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book”. When seeking to understand its many signs and symbols, we must first consult the scriptures to see where those signs and symbols have previously appeared. This is trusting to “biblical precedent”. After studying, praying over, and teaching the wonders of this all-important capstone book of our Bible for nearly forty years, this commentary comes as a result of both recognizing “biblical precedent”, and listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. The goal of this book is the same as that of the book of Revelation itself, and that is to lead the reader into a deeper and more complete understanding of the Father’s plan through the Revelation of the person of Jesus Christ.
The Ancient Path to the Deeper Spiritual Life
Spirituality has become a forgotten reality in much of the externally preoccupied church today, resulting in lifeless religion and estrangement from God. Unaware of the Deeper Spiritual life Christ has provided, man is in desperate need of spiritual renewal. The Ancient Path is a return to the historic and biblical faith that has guided sincere believers for centuries. By learning to listen in the inner man, trust unswervingly in God’s promises, and journey deep into the spiritual realm, man can discover intimacy with God. This has been the testimony of believers from King David to John Wesley. Only spiritual life through Jesus Christ will prepare man for God’s ultimate intention, a spiritual and power filled union with God.
The Practical Steps to the Deeper Spiritual Life
Where "The Ancient Path to the Deeper Spiritual Life" was an introduction to the way of faith that sincere believers have walked since the day of Pentecost, "The Practical Steps to the Deeper Spiritual Life" was written to convey some of the actual steps a believer can take to promote that spiritual path. Paul wrote that it is the natural (the practical) that comes first, then the spiritual. By aligning his life with some of the basic disciplines and devotions of the Christian life, the seeker of spiritual life can learn to walk in the life of power and divine presence that the Lord has so richly promised. This book is a testimony to those practical steps that have provided spiritual life for my wife and I and for all those who have joined us in this pilgrimage into the daily presence of God.
