We celebrate Christmas with the giving of gifts because of the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ. That gift transcends nations and cultures and every designation man has put upon himself. The gift of Christ is designed to be both received and given as those who have truly been recievers recognize the need to share that gift with the world around them. It belongs to them too!
Jesus continually used the circumstances of the surrounding world to draw attention to what God was doing in the lives of His followers. He continues this practice today by calling us to look at the current state of things in this world and to recognize how they align with biblical prophecy. We must open our spiritual eyes to the world around us!
Like the cities mentioned in this title who were prominent cities in Israel, America has been blessed by God. As a people we have experienced the outpouring of His spirit, including many signs, wonders, and miracles. If we are not good stewards of these blessings, He will give our portion to another.
Solomon is rememberd by most as the man who had many wives. Nevertheless, Solomon was a man who went out of his way to seek and worship God. The result of Solomon’s sincere pursuit was that God appeared to Him and told him to ask anything and it would be granted him. Solomon was rewarded for seeking more of God than just declaring His name.
Life is full of choices. Choosing to follow Christ is the most essential decision we can make in our lives. However, once we have chosen Christ, an equally essential choice remains. Will we choose to walk in the religious path that Jesus said many will surrender to in this life, or will we choose to walk in the spiritual path that Jesus and the writers of the New Testament so plead with us to walk in?
Numerous times in the Bible its writers boil down the things God requires of a soul to a few basic priorities. Rather than being a list of religious does and don’ts, they instead are simply made up of the need of living an upright life, of treating others in an acceptable way, and of walking with God in this life.
